5 best cities to learn design in NYC, according to a new report.
The report from NPD Group, titled New York, New York Designers: The Best Cities for Designers, was released on Tuesday and was composed of more than 3,000 respondents.
The top five most popular cities were New York (2nd), Los Angeles (3rd), Chicago (4th), San Francisco (5th) and Washington, D.C. (6th).NPD Group found that the New York metro area had the most thriving, diverse and creative design communities.
The most diverse of these communities are New York’s garment and furniture designers, who comprise about 12% of the total.
In New York State, there are about 13,000 designers, a number that has been growing rapidly over the last decade.
The second most diverse are home decor designers, with 9,700 in the metro area.
New York is home to the home decor industry, which is responsible for $2.5 trillion in sales annually.
These designers are working in areas where there is a lack of diversity in their field, such as online marketing, graphic design, interior design and home furnishing.
This is a significant growth that is driving the industry’s growth, NPD said.
“It’s a big step for our designers in the industry to have more opportunities and greater recognition,” said Lisa McDonough, CEO of NPD.
“This is also a sign of how important diversity is to us, that we are seeing more of it in the design field.”
The top cities to design are in the East Coast, where there are several notable designers including James and Lauren Givens, who own Givins Home Furnishings, a home furnishings company that produces furniture and accessories for more than 100 million customers around the world.
Another major New York area designer, Zaha Hadid, was born in Jerusalem, Israel, but grew up in Manhattan and New Jersey.
