The company was founded in 2013 and is run by the jewellers sister Sarah, who is also the founder of the Sydney-based jewellery company Jewellers & Designers.
Sarah said the business was started in response to the demand for more affordable jewellery and she believed the demand was rising and she needed to find a way to meet it.
“I wanted to make a product that was affordable and that was very much accessible to everybody and I thought that was really important for my business to be accessible to a wider audience,” she said.
“My sister and I wanted to find an easy way for people to shop and be able to shop anywhere in the world and we did.”
Sarah said her sister had a love for the craft of jewellery design and that their father, Ian, had worked as a designer and was a lifelong jeweller.
She said they had always wanted to open a jewellery shop, but had been struggling to find the right space.
“It’s very difficult for me to do this because there are no stores that cater to the jewellery designer and we didn’t have the space to do that,” she explained.
“We had a very small space to make jewellery so we had to make our own, so it was a little bit daunting.”
When we opened, it was just the two of us and it was an experience we will never forget.
“Sarah jewellering started out with her sister as an apprenticeship, and the business grew over time.”
They started with two or three jewellery makers and that is how we got to where we are today,” she recalled.”
As we went from one to 10 we had a good mix of people that were very well trained and very well experienced.
“Sarah’s expertise in the jeweller’s trade is really great.”
She really does have a great sense of where the industry is going and what’s happening.
“Sarah is currently working on her first fashion show.”
In a way it’s an opportunity for me as a jeweller, because it gives me a chance to show my skills and it gives people a chance,” she added.”
The show will be all about fashion, the jeweler, the designer, the maker, the owner.
“There’s a lot of different types of jeweller but there’s always the jewelling.”
Sarah believes the jewelled trend will continue to grow, and that the jewells is a good opportunity for anyone with an interest in fashion to shop at her store.
“People who are not jewellists, or don’t have a jewellery background, will be able see that there is a market for this kind of product,” she concluded.
“Even if you’re not a designer, or a jewelled designer, it’s a good way to find some of that expertise.”
